February 2012 Archives

Mark-Sargeant.jpgITV1 has finally caught up with the bandwagon and plans are afoot for a Mark Sargeant fronted cookery show to rival Saturday Kitchen.

Incredibly, Saturday Kitchen has been knocking about on the small screen for the best part of a decade.

Despite the mixed feelings towards housewife's favourite James Martin (though not too popular with pro chefs, but perhaps mainly the ones that haven't been invited to appear on the show) Saturday Kitchen regularly pulls in nearly 3 million viewers.

GBM-logo.jpgIn case you hadn't noticed, 2012 is the year that the world's greatest sports folk are welcomed to the UK for to see who's the best at doing some stuff.

To celebrate it (or cash in, if you're feeling somewhat cynical) almost everything you come across until September will have a bit of 2012 flavour and the new series of Great British Menu is no exception - back with bang on BBC2 from 9 April.

A full complement of top chefs are this year tasked with creating a spectacular menu of dishes fit for sporting heroes at a dinner to be hosted by Olympic legend Sir Steve Redgrave at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.

"Move over Jamie Oliver!" - Alex Reid wants a piece of your action

Alex-Reid.jpgNow, now Jamie Oliver, it's time to share that buffed up halo of yours. There's a new player in town.

And it comes in the unlikely form of cross-dressing, former-cage fighting, reality TV Z-lister Alex Reid.

What do you mean you don't know who he is? To be fair, I'm not 100% sure either.

I think he may have been married to the grotesquely over-tanned human barbie doll that is Katie Price and apparently he's going to be married to the grotesquely over-tanned human barbie doll that is Chantelle something-or-other.

What has all this got to do with Jamie Oliver, I hear you cry.
